Using an AED
Call 000 and start CPR. Use the AED as soon as it arrives.
1 / Turn it on
Open the AED and follow its voice prompts. If another rescuer is present, keep CPR going while the pads are prepared.
2 / Expose and dry the chest
Remove clothing from the chest. Dry wet skin so pads stick. Follow the pictures on the pads.
3 / Attach the adult pads
Place one pad below the person's right collarbone, beside the breastbone. Place the other on their left side, below the armpit. Pads must not touch.
4 / Stand clear, then resume CPR
Nobody touches the person during analysis or shock. Deliver a shock only if prompted. Resume CPR immediately when told, including after a no-shock decision.
