Quick help

Unresponsive AND not breathing normally (including gasping)

Call 000, start CPR and use an AED as soon as available. Follow the call-taker.

Unresponsive but breathing normally

Call 000. Place the person on their side, keep the airway open and monitor breathing continuously. If breathing becomes abnormal, start CPR.

Severe or uncontrolled bleeding

Apply firm, continuous pressure on or around the wound and call 000. Do not delay controlling life-threatening bleeding.

Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)

Lay the person flat and give adrenaline without delay, then call 000. Do not let them stand or walk. If breathing is difficult, allow sitting with legs outstretched.

Possible stroke: face droop, arm weakness or speech change

Call 000 immediately, even if the signs go away. Note when the person was last known to be well.

Check for danger, response and normal breathing. Call 000 for serious or sudden symptoms and follow the call-taker. This activity cannot rule out an emergency.
